The bad news regarding Potchfest10

This is my old blog! Head here: kevinebaugh.com/blog

From Jake of Potchfest fame:

I'm sorry to let all of you know that the town has shut the festival down. We will try and find a way to hold a new event sometime in the near future. When we first set out to find a place to hold the festival, we went to the town, and they showed no interest at all, they would never get back to us, and when they would talk to us they were nothing but rude. we realized they would never let us hold it in one of the parks, or on the green or anything of that sort, so we went to Robb's Farm. Robb knew just how special this festival would be, he knew it would be safe, and he knew it would be a great thing for the town. We did the festival last year, and it was an amazing experience, anyone who was there knows how good our intentions were, and there was no trouble what so ever. the town didnt even realize it happened because nothing went wrong, and everyone was on their best behavior. Then Robb gets a call from the town today, 4 days before the festival, saying they are shutting us down. I cant explain how disappointed we are, we all put so much work into this event, and i will be losing over $500 because of this. The only reason it was shut down is because we used the word "Festival", and no other reason at all. PotchFest was brought to the police's attention because a random citizen didnt like the idea that it was happening, and turned a flyer into the police. This person had nothing to do with the festival, and the festival would not effect them in anyway, but they turned us in anyways. I feel this is the attitude of many people in this town, and thats why nothing interesting ever happens here. This was a free festival, we were going to accept donations, and we were even trying to get more familys to show up, we tryed all we could to show that this was going to be a good clean festival, Whole Foods was even helping us out. We did not deserve to get shut down, and Robb's Farm doesnt deserve this either. Robb's Farm donates their baseball field to Glastonbury Little League for free, and holds many free events, if you know Robb then you know how much he does for this town, and how much he truly cares about people, and the town called him out, called him irresponsible, insulted him in many others ways; even after all he has done for them. I just wanted to let everyone know exactly what happened, im sorry if that was alot to read, but POTCHFEST IS NOT DONE! we are going to do all we can to figure out how we can fit regulations, and make a musical event happen in the near future with most of the same bands. of course now we will never be able to call it Potch'Fest' again, but we will make something happen. THANKS VERY MUCH FOR ALL OF YOU WHO WERE GOING TO ATTEND, AND IM VERY SORRY! - jake
